Acting

Gary’s approach to acting is rooted in the Meisner technique, developed with Alan Becker at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and sharpened through years of scene study with Paul Austin. His improvisational skills have long been a valuable asset, one that has landed him over 30 national commercials and promos. This foundation shows up as much in his scripted work as it does in the unscripted moments, as was the case in over 1,000 hours of hosting live television, where there’s no second take and no safety net. Whether he’s inhabiting a character on stage or thinking on his feet in front of a live audience, the throughline is the same: presence, listening, and the willingness to follow the moment wherever it leads, often straight into a house full of laughter.

“Gary Ray is delightful to watch onstage as Marty’s dad. He embraces his character so fully I found myself forgetting that I was watching a play. He is captivating from the very beginning…”

— The Easy.com, regarding The Egg Project

“Gary Ray truly dominates the stage with his loveable Robert character. He turns the story on its head by being so charming.”

— NY Theater Now, regarding The Egg Project
